CEDO535 Week 5

This week I worked primarily on my wiki. I think this is going to be an invaluable resource for my students, my coworkers, and myself. I am making a collaborative wiki for the staff to share their favorite online resources, be it lessons or activities. I have separated it by grade and by subject. I put a bunch of links in already and will keep chuggin along.

I have been tweeting and reading twitter. I have gotten some great ideas for lessons. I have also been religiously reading my blogs using Google Reader. It's amazing and sooooooooooooooo helpful. I am just loving it.

I had a rough week. My puppy got pneumonia and had to be hospitalized over the weekend. I had a tough time getting back to life after this and am busy nursing him back to health. He's on two antibiotics, Robitussin, and I have to give him nebulizer treatments and perform coupage...try performing coupage on a schnauzer (you will get bitten).

535 Week 4: Quit asking me and WATCH THIS!

I am in LOVE with screencasting. My husband has been doing it forever and I just never jumped on the bandwagon...well I'm on it now! This is hands-down the easiest way to teach people how to perform tasks on the computer. I must spend hours writing up directions, inserting images to go along with the text, etc. for simple tasks for both staff and students. NO MORE! I am going to creating a bunch of screencasts using either Screenr or Jing to share with staff and students on how how to perform task such as saving to their directory, creating links, using social bookmarking, etc. This is going to make my job easier and everyone learn better.

I am also so excited about podcasting. I know for sure I'm going to have my fifth graders create trailers for their favorite books. It's going to be AMAZING. I'll share the lesson and results after we get started. I am going to incorporate a podcast into each grade level (K-5) any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
